Telescopes

The Telescopes dialog box will allow you to control your instrument with WinStars.

ASCOM

The ASCOM protocol is only compatible with Windows. To use it with WinStars, you must first download and install the ASCOM Platform file available at https://ascom-standards.org.

Once the ASCOM platform has been installed, check the ASCOM option and click on the Configuration… button.

The ASCOM general configuration box should appear….

By clicking on Properties…, a second box appears with more settings.

This is where you must set up the model of the instrument you want to use with WinStars. Sometimes it is necessary to install an additional driver (https://ascom-standards.org/Downloads/ScopeDrivers.htm).

Indi

The Indi protocol is not yet implemented…. To be continued….

Using it

Once your telescope is set up in ASCOM, click on the Enable Connection… button. From this point on, the locking an object will point your instrument to that object. The tracking will be done automatically. To stop the tracking, press the ESC key on the keyboard.
