Planets¶
- Show the planets’ names:
- Show planets`location: geological formations (mountains, craters, plains), plus cities, countries and oceans (for Earth).
- Atmospheres/clouds: shows the effects of atmospheric diffusion in the planetarium mode. In the 3D navigation mode, displays an Earth with its cloud cover and blue atmosphere.
- Cloud shadows: improves the appearance of the terrestrial cloud cover.
- Reflection: activates the reflection of sunlight on the Earth’s oceans.
- Show orbits: currently only displays the orbits of the 8 planets of the solar system and Pluto [1].
- Show high resolution textures: this option is only available in the full version of WinStars. The surfaces of the Earth, Mars and the Moon then appear much more detailed.
- Bump mapping: improves the rendering of shadows on the planet’s surface.
[1] | Pluto was discovered in 1930, and until 2006, it was the ninth planet in the solar system. Since 2006, it has been reclassified as a “dwarf planet”. |
